Philosophy and Ethics

In A level Philosophy and Ethics students:

  • Explore key aspects of the subject as well as gaining experience in critically looking at belief systems and their place in society
  • Study the work of some of the world’s key philosophical thinkers, for example, Plato and Aristotle, as well as Judaeo and Christian influences on religion
  • Debate the existence of God
  • Consider ethical theory and morality and the religious response to issues such as abortion
  • Discuss issues such as the relationship between the body and soul, different views about life after death and ethics from different secular perspectives.

Assessment and Examinations (OCR)

3 hour written examination at both AS and A2
