At AS level students study instrumental and vocal music.

At A2 students continue to study instrumental music and also study applied music.

AS and A2 Music Technology

At AS students concentrate on the principles and practice of music technology.

At A2 they focus on the development of technology-based music.

AS and A2 Music

Unit 1: AS Performing: 5/6 minutes performance recital (solo or ensemble) (30% AS, 15% A2)

Unit 2: AS Pomposing: 3 minutes composition based on an examination board published brief (30% AS, 15% A2)

Unit 3: AS Developing Musical Understanding: 2 hour written examination on set works (40% AS, 20% A2)

Unit 4: A2 Extended Performance recital (12-15 minutes) (30% AS, 15% A2)

Unit 5: A2 Composition and Technical Study (30% AS, 15% A2)

Unit 6: A2 Further Musical Understanding: 2 hour written examination (40% AS, 20% A2)

AS and A2 Music Technology

Unit 1: AS portfolio: 3 practical recording studio projects (70%)

Unit 2: AS Listening and Analysis examination (30%)

Unit 3: A2 Portfolio: 3 advanced practical recording studio projects (60%)

Unit 4: A2 Analysing & Producing: 2 hour written examination (40%)
