The School Day

School sessions take place five days a week from Monday to Friday, 08:45-15:10 (finishing times dependent on year             group), which totals to 31.25 hours a week.

The school operates a two-week timetable cycle.

The school day structure

Under the updated government COVID-19 guidance, schools are no longer required to stagger the arrival and departure of year groups and so we will return to our pre-COVID day structure with the following amendments:

  • The school day will begin with lesson 1 for all students, rather than tutor time, which will now take place after period 2. This change allows students greater space for students and greater access to the canteen at break time, by halving the number of students out at break time.
  • The end of day tutor time from 15:02 -15:10 has been removed. This change removes the need for students to potentially move buildings within a maximum of eight minutes to get to their tutor bases to register. Instead, the afternoon register will be taken from the last lesson of the day and the additional minutes will be used to stagger exits and add to learning time for our older learners. Please note, if a student needs to wait for a sibling/travel companion with a slightly later exit time, they are able to wait in the playground.
