Brentside were lucky enough to have poet and author Ashley Hickson-Lovence come to speak to Year 12 and 13 English Literature students about his novel ‘The 392’, which they have all been loving.

Students got a refreshingly honest insight into the writing and publishing process and how Ashley took his work from university dissertation to published novel.  Ashley then performed some of his own spoken-word poetry, which left students utterly transfixed. After analysing an image and a poem by Caleb Femi, students wrote their own poem, with one then lucky enough to receive a signed copy of Ashley’s new novel ‘Wild East’. Ashley will be back in May for a workshop with Year 10.
